Description
Teak has always been considered a noble and precious wood; it grows in the southeastern regions of Asia, more exactly in the area that includes
Burma (now MYANMAR), Thailand and Laos.
Ever since Thai authorities have prohibited cutting of their forests, real Teak presently comes from Myanmar.
Colour and fiber change in accordance with the provenance area, and the best quality presents homogeneous colour, golden basis with black stripes at times.
It is one of the most durable wood in the world with a strong and peculiar smell; the wood is oily at the touch and is both fresh and salt water resistant.
Thanks to its mechanical features combined with its beauty, durably, sturdiness and resistance to rot, Teak has been extensively used in the boat building for decking, rails, etc. since ancient times and for many other uses such as prestigious furniture, floors (parquet), window frames and doors. Teak is the only wood that can be used all over the world, even in those areas where temperature ranges, humidity, salt and wind put to the test any other kind of wood.
