Description

This tree grows mostly in Congo and Ivory Coast. Its colour is from cream to reddish brown with rosy shade.
Its workability is very good, you can clean it easily and dye it perfectly. For those qualities it’s very used in furniture industries in place of walnut.

Botanical name

Aningeria Robusta it belongs to the family of Sapotaceae.

Growth area

Commonly distributed in West – Eastern equatorial Africa.

Growth characteristic

The heartwood is cream to tan with a pinkish tinge. Generally with straight grain but sometimes wavy producing a mottled figure. The wood is lustrous and siliceous.

Seasoning

It dries rapidly and well with no checking or twisting, without degrade in either air or kiln drying.
Little movement in service.

Specific gravity

Weight about 580 kg./m3. S.G. 0,58

Durability

The heartwood is perishable but permeable for preservation treatment.

USES

Furniture and cabinetwork, high-class joinery, interiors. Used for utility plywood and also sliced for decorative veneering.
